What Your Afternoon Cravings May Be Trying To Tell You

At 3pm the cravings hit and willpower goes out the window.

Sound familiar?

Many women assume cravings are a sign they’ve failed.

That they need more discipline.

More control.

More willpower.

But what if cravings are actually information?

What if your body is trying to communicate something important?

One of the most powerful shifts I see in women is when they stop fighting their body and start listening to it.

Because cravings often make a lot more sense than we realise.

Signs This Might Be You

 Craving chocolate every afternoon

 Energy crash around 2–4pm

 Feeling hangry

 Constant snacking

 Strong evening cravings

Difficulty controlling portions late in the day

What The Research Shows

  • Blood sugar fluctuations influence hunger
  • Protein improves satiety
  • Sleep impacts appetite regulation
  • Stress influences cravings
  • Muscle improves glucose disposal

Why This Matters after 40

  • Insulin sensitivity changes
  • Muscle mass naturally declines
  • Hormonal shifts influence appetite
  • Stress loads increase
  • Recovery becomes increasingly important

What You Can Do This Week

  1. Prioritise protein at breakfast
  2. Include protein at lunch
  3. Walk after meals
  4. Improve sleep quality
  5. Notice patterns rather than judging yourself

The Strong Calm Lean Approach

Inside the Strong Calm Lean Method, we view cravings as information.

Not failure.

Because your body is always communicating.

And when you learn to understand those signals, healthy choices become easier, not harder.

If food feels harder than it should, I’d love to help.

Often cravings aren’t about willpower.

They’re about physiology.
